1961 First "Miss Suwannean" judged by the Florida Gator's
1962 Football team had a record of 11-0

1964 Rear of Metcalfe Building collapses due to flood from Hurricane Dora

1967 Moved into current buildings (this was published in 1993) Teachers went on strike

1970-1971 Girls allowed to wear pants if temperature is 30 degrees or lower
Girls first allowed into the Key Club and called the Keyettes
1971-1972 Douglas High School disband

1972 Racial unrest ~ 100 injured
1973 Integrated Prom ~ a black band played at one end of the gym and a white band played at the other end
